The First Critical Step to Improvement
5S Workplace Organization is an important foundation to any Lean initiative by providing an organized working environment capable of supporting and facilitating additional process improvements. Participants in a 5S Workplace Organization Rapid Improvement Workshop learn the steps and techniques for eliminating waste caused by disorganization and clutter while creating an ideal working environment. An effective 5S Workplace Organization initiative clearly communicates to the entire team the need for change at the most basic level and establishes a culture of discipline. The 5’S are Sort, Simplify, Systematic Clean, Standardize and Sustain.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
To teach the steps for creating a working environment that provides the right resources, tools, and equipment in an organized manner resulting in improved efficiency, flow and throughput performance

5S Workplace Organization workshop participants learn:
- PLANNING – What to prepare, where to start & how to expand the reach of this workshop throughout your shop
- PRE-WORK STEPS – what needs to be done prior to launch
- INITIAL LAUNCH STEPS - Steps for conducting the initial event
- SORT – Identify what’s needed from what’s not
- SIMPLIFY – Find a place for everything
- SYSTEMATIC CLEAN – Clean, Inspect and Maintain, at world-class level
- STANDARDIZE – Turn process into a system
- SUSTAIN – New culture with daily reinforcements
- AUDITS & MEASUREMENTS – The end state
- Areas For Improvement – Learn the 9 areas for possible improvement
- PDCA – Plan, Do, Check, Act
