THE FIRST CRITICAL STEP TO IMPROVEMENT
This workgroup focuses on reorganizing the working environment and improving processes to become more competitive. Participants will learn how to eliminate waste caused by disorganization and clutter, how to create the ideal working environment, how to communicate the need for change at the most basic level and how to create a culture of discipline. The 5’S are Sort, Simplify, Systematic Clean, Standardize and Sustain.

To teach the steps for creating a working environment that improves efficiency, flow and throughput performance

SORT – Identify what’s needed from what’s not
SIMPLIFY – Find a place for everything
SYSTEMATIC CLEAN – Clean, Inspect and Maintain, at world-class level
STANDARDIZE – Turn process into a system
SUSTAIN – New culture with daily reinforcements
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT – Learn the 9 areas for possible improvement
RED TAG STRATEGY – Tagging methodology for unnecessary items
AUDITS & MEASUREMENTS – The end state
PDCA – Plan, Do, Check, Act
